You should never invite Burning Orcs into your room!

I am entering a contest the details can be found in this link here. Did you look at it? Awesome. So we had some choices and I decided to doodle up an orcish wizard, that is on fire, with an impressive mustache-beard combo, in a princess's bedroom that has been burned down, featuring a conference room. That's a mouthful right? I kind of like it. It's been a lot of fun and here are some images of my work along the way.

This is the character concept, I started with a scribly sketch and refined it. Ok I wanted him to look apologetic but the opposite seems to have happened but I could not dare change his cheeky casual stance.

Then I added a rough sketch of the background.

A few slight changes and some color blocking.

Th shading starts, and you can also see the palette I gave myself then soon threw away. How dare photoshop restrict my color choices like that!

This is the last progress shot I have and that is only because I was showing someone what I was working on at that specific second.

So here it is, the final image. At the last moment before I squished all my layers together I decided the scene needed to be very dark. It was always my plan to just smoosh the fire in there as the last thing. So, about the Orc guy. His name is Teldeskmch (spelled phonetically) he had warned the princess that rooms burn down around him, but she didn't listen. I don't know why she didn't, but I bet she regrets it.
Well this is the end of this journey. Thank you for taking it with me.

P.S. Mom, I did sign it, it's the itty bitty dark bit near the top of the foot board.
